Epilepsy Scotland is committed to providing a website that is accessible to everyone.  We want to make sure that there are no barriers to getting information from our website. 

To help make this happen we are working to make our website easy to get into and to use.  One way we do this is by meeting available standards and guidelines.  These are set by an international member led organisation known as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Our website has a double A accessibility rating.  This means it meets current World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.  These guidelines explain how to make web sites more accessible whatever your level of ability.  Epilepsy Scotland’s web site aims to become even more user friendly and accessible for all.  We are now working towards the triple A rating.  This should mean it will be even easier to use in the future.

Our web site is developed using codes known as XHTML and CSS.  These codes meet W3C standards.  It is shown correctly in all browsers eg Firefox and Internet Explorer.  People with different impairments may need extra software or hardware to access the web.  This might be voice recognition software or a screen reader.  Our web site also supports the use of these assistive technologies.

Epilepsy Scotland aims to follow accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability.  We are aware that we may not always manage this.  So that we can always improve, we review accessibility of our website, to make any improvements regularly.
